Position descriptions

Web developer

Resources Online (www.ronline.com) is looking for Web developers, preferably with substantive recent experience at Microsoft. We're particularly interested in producers who have MNP and MSTP experience, and in general who have know the relevant tools, platforms, and processes. We engage in customer-facing and internal content projects across the company. We are also a leader in new platform adoption.

IMPORTANT: This position is for a true software developer who additionally has web skills. It is NOT for a Web producer who knows some software development. If you fit this description, you are welcome to contact us; if not, please see our other job descriptions (such as "Web Producer").

We may opt begin this engagement as a contract; or as an long-term FTE. We offer a full benefit package for employees, including health, paid time off, and retirement benefits.

Requirements

• Experience with cross-platform client-side JavaScript and AJAX application development
• Ability to “hack” small, purpose-specific code into particular web pages
• Experience developing table-less HTML
• Experience with XML schemas and XSLT transformations
• Experience developing C# based ASP.NET web applications
• Experience with MS SQL databases

Web Project Manager

We are seeking managers for Web content projects.

It's a good use of your time to respond ONLY if you can substantially document that you fulfill the requirements. But if you do, we'd love to hear from you!

Requirements

• Web production management experience, including hands-on management and/or experience in coding or Information Architecture.
• Understanding of structured content.
• Proficiency in CSS, HTML, DHTML, ASP.NET, and Flash.
• Experience with SharePoint.
• Experience working with Product Studio.
• Familiarity with Photoshop and Visio.
• Demonstrated expertise with project management tools, including Microsoft Project and Microsoft Excel.
• Proven project management experience: you must be organized, detail-oriented, take initiative, and able to work well with a virtual team. Your project management experience should be hands-on, meaning you must have a complete understanding of all the roles and processes in a Web content project.
• Experience in gathering requirements, strategizing with the client, and creating a project scope and plan.
• Experience in managing a project within a set budget and timeline.
• Ability to review editorial and design content for quality assurance and client needs.
• Strong client interaction skills. Ability to form positive relationships with the client and respond quickly to their needs.

We are looking for a person with substantive recent experience (~2 years or more) at Microsoft as an FTE, contractor, or vendor in a project manager/content production/Web production role who has familiarity with relevant tools, platforms, and processes.

You must have experience working with and managing teams that may include Web producers, IA, UI, and content experts; clients; media producers.

Excellent communication and client relations skills are a must.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously without getting all freaked out.

Information Architect / UX designer

We are looking for an Information Architect and User Experience specialist to work on a variety of web projects. It's a good use of your time to respond ONLY if you can substantially document that you fulfill the requirements. But if you do, we look forward to hearing from you.

Requirements

• Several years' experience in Information Architecture and User Interface Design for Web sites.
• Experience in working with clients to gather requirements, strategize, and advise on website design and architecture.
• Ability to create information structures, content wireframes, and site maps.
• Familiarity with structured content.
• Ability to develop and run small usability studies.
• Strong client interaction skills. Ability to form positive relationships with the client and to respond quickly to their needs.
• Familiarity with CSS, HTML, and ASP.NET. All other Web technologies are a plus.
• Familiarity with design, including a working knowledge of Photoshop, Visio, and Illustrator.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Visio, PowerPoint and Excel.
• Project management skills. Must be organized, take initiative, detail-oriented, and able to work well with a team of virtual workers. Must be proficient in using project management tools.
• Ability to handle tight-deadline projects with ease.
• Smarts, responsibility, good sense, and ability to collaborate effectively with a larger team.

Designer - Web UI

Resources Online is a busy Web production company seeking a Web Designer to work on diverse, high-visibility projects for industry leading companies. We need someone who likes to conceptualize at a high-level some days and push pixels on other days, and works well being their own art director. Our clients include Microsoft, Adobe, and LexisNexis.

Requirements

• Portfolio pieces that demonstrate a keen eye for design, distinctive creativity, and an understanding of core design principles.
• Proficiency in creating graphics that pop, including page art, marketing heroes, banner ads, and full-on integrated Web site designs.
  
• Experience with Flash-based design; Flash showing built-in dynamic functionality is a plus. SilverLight is worthy of a major plus.
  
• Expert Photoshop user. Excellent with page building apps such as Dreamweaver. Proficient with tools like Flash, Illustrator, and Fireworks.
  
• Experience cutting and prepping graphics for Web use.
  
• Able to rapidly transfer design to well-formed Web pages is a plus. Tableless Web page-building is big plus.
  
• Ability and skill in scripting and applying CSS wows us.
  
• Excellent client interaction skills are a must; grok it, concept it, and respond to feedback.
  
• Ability to work well with a virtual team; self directed; IM on.

• Diverse creative abilities: Web development, UI architecting, video production, photography, writing/editing, Web production.

We are looking for a person with substantive recent experience at Microsoft as an FTE, contractor, or vendor in a Web production/developer role who has familiarity with relevant tools, platforms, and processes.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years experience in Web production, development or content management.
  
• At least 2 years working with Microsoft proprietary Web platforms.
  
• Proficiency in CSS, HTML and XML.
  
• Experience with SharePoint.
  
• Ability to optimize graphics for Web use. Experience with Photoshop is a plus.
  
• Seasoned working under tight deadlines and on multiple projects simultaneously.
  
• Excellent communication skills. Substantial client interaction experience is a plus.
  
• Capable of working on a virtual team. Experience in a virtual setting is a plus.
